We left Baton Rouge early this morning on our way to Dallas/Fort Worth. We actually made it there
early and had to wait two hours before our connecting 737 to Los Angeles arrived. On the flight, we noticed plenty
of people that were also on their way to Celebration IV - many in Star Wars shirts, hats and even someone who had a
Yoda backpack! Once we finally made it to L.A. - we picked up the rental car and headed into downtown Los Angeles.
It's no wonder that we ran into a load of traffic on the way to the hotel - but considering how it is in B.R
post-Katrina - it wasn't that bad. Right before we got to the hotel - we passed the convention center and man
it's HUGE! Finally we get off the interstate and find the hotel - it's a very nice place with great architecture
and style. The room is modest - but as long as it has a bed and shower, we really don't need anything else do we?
Once we were situated in the hotel room - we headed over to the convention center to "pre-register". They have some
large banners on the entrances of the convention center and inside we got to see a small part of what's in store
for us tomorrow. The huge inflated Death Star is awesome! We got our swag bag of goodies and on the way out of the
building saw an R2-D2 USPS mailbox near the convention center! To finish off the day - we went on a hunt to see what
Los Angeles had in terms of Star Wars merchandise and found that it's pretty much on par with us (who would have
thought?), plus check out the interesting Wal-Mart that's actually an anchor store in a mall! The only exception
was a Toys-R-Us where we found a good number of 30th anniversary figures and a massive amount of Saga AT-ATs and
other Saga vehicles. Tomorrow is the Fan Club only day and the start of the convention, see you then...
