Dallas Comic-Con 2011
The spring/summer convention in the Dallas area moved from Richardson to its new home at the Irving Convention Center this year. Held on May 21st and 22nd, 2011 this popular convention had a huge growth explosion this year with an estimated 10,000 people in attendance over the weekend! Karen, Tommy and I headed up there Friday and got there late - of course after a few Walmart and Target stops where we (finally) found some of the newer Vintage and Clone Wars waves. On Saturday, we costumed and took loads of pictures while waiting to get Leonard Nimoy and Carrie Fisher's autograph – after that it was off to the dealer’s hall where it was jam-packed with dealers, artists and people! After a long - but fun - day we headed out to our traditional dinner stop – Texas Land and Cattle! Sunday was a day to just run around the "Sandcrawler" (our nickname for the convention center) while Tommy went in to "aggressive negations" with the dealers. After a stop at Steak 'n Shake – it's back to the road for the long drive home. It was a great con and we're really looking forward to Star Wars Fan Days IV this year at the new location!

You can see us in the video from the Dallas Morning News on DallasNews.com! We're at about 31 seconds in to the video, we were waiting in line to see Leonard Nimoy. Plus you can also see many of our other friends in the video like Shane Dison (the Klingon at the start of the video), Lance Marcus (in the "Fallout" suit) and more! Check it out below:
