Star Wars in Concert came to the New Orleans arena on October 27th, 2009 and we were there for the
show of a lifetime! Before the show, there was an excellent exhibit of costumes from the Star Wars saga including Darth Vader,
Plo Koon, Senate & Royal Guards, C-3PO and many more - plus there were plenty of flat screens showing behind-the-scene
footage of the making of saga. Probably the most impressive piece on display though was the actual score sheets from
the infamous openning of the Star Wars fanfare.
The show itself was hosted by Anthony Daniels with an enormous
LED screen showing a montage of scenes from the films that focused on the musical piece being preformed by the orchestra and choir.
With the focus being on the music, there was only very limited dialog with no special effects and hearing all the pieces
without any other distraction was amazing - you can really feel John Williams' score telling the story! It is also a very
interesting re-interpretation of the saga and even has flashbacks
worked in to specific points of the story - Anthony Daniels also adds a bit of humor with some bits about his favorite character,
Threepio (even the conductor has to keep him in line!).
This event will be touring here in the U.S. until the end
of 2009, for more information visit
