As mentioned on the front page of the website, the Inventory Databank has had some major updates deployed to it today. The changes include:

  • The Inventory Databank home page now has two sections that inform everyone the latest items added to and updated in the database
  • In the upper left corner of the results page, you will see a new section that contains the following:
  • The ability to change from a new "grid" view to a "tile" view by clicking on the icons in the far right -
  • The gird viewallows you to view only basic details of each item in the category (i.e. item name, release date, wave, figure number, etc.) with out any thumbnail or other extraneous information (variations, etc.) in a simple format. Because of this, lower bandwith connections (dial-up for example) may perfer this view. Another bonus of this view is that you can now sort by clicking the column - thus allowing not just the default sort by item name, but also by figure number, wave, etc.
  • The tile viewshows much more information about each item, such as the a thumbnail (if available) and detailed information about variations, descriptions, etc. but displays fewer items because of this - plus this view cannot be sorted by anything else besides the item name.
  • Both the grid view and tile views now allow you to change the number of items displayed per page by selecting a different number in the drop down
  • The editing of an item is now available in the grid and tile views
  • Editing the number owned has been cleaned up
Also, as I mentioned on the site's front page - unless there are any major problems found, I plan on moving this out of its beta stage soonso that it can start to be used by people without them worrying about it because of the 'beta" moniker. Until then be careful not rely on the Databank just yet as until I do pull the "beta" off, there is always the possibility of having to wipe-out the database. Please use the forum here to let me know about any problems you have (please note, the thread is not to be used to request new functionality - I am not going to add anything new until what is on the site is no longer in beta). Thanks everyone!

That may just happen very soon TD 5491

A new set of changes have been deployed to the site. They include:
  • The ability to set your default view to the grid or tile view (the system default is the grid view). This may be done in the profile section of the website (http://www.redstickrebellion.com/User/UserProfile.aspx), down near the bottom of the page under "Site Preferences".
  • Exclusive, Want Index and Cargo Bay icons added to the grid view. Now this information (although much more brief than the tile view) will show up with corresponding icons for each item in the row.
  • Cleaned up the sorting in the grid view to allow correct sorting. For example, figure numbers now sort in the correct order (i.e. BD No. 1, BD No. 2, etc.) instead of how they were previously (BD No. 1, BD No. 10, BD No. 2, etc.)
  • Hovering over the thumbnail in the tile view shows a popup with a larger view of the item. Clicking on this larger image now displays the full-size image in a seperate window (with text at the top to let you know you can click the image to viw this).
  • A lot of updates to the database! Check out the Inventory Databank's home pageto see the latest changes!
  • I am very confident that the Beta tag will be coming off soon - so if you have seen any problems, now is the time to let me know! Thanks everyone!

The Inventory Databankhas been moved out of it's beta and is now a full release. Now, this doesn't mean that more new features (or fixes) will not be coming to the Databank in the future - it only means that the current set of features have been finalized and are at a point which they have been thoroughly tested without any problems and there should not be any breaking changes to the database (in english, this means that you can start using it without the worry of losing your information due to future changes).

There have been a number of changes added to the Databank since the last set of "beta" changes. Below is a quick list of all of the new and updated features of the Databank:
  • Added search control to home page (InventoryHome.aspx). Search allows for keyword, exact phrases (using double quotes [“”]), and finding matches that do not contain a word or phrase (using a minus sign [-] in front of the keyword or phrase). A drop-down help window is available which displays sample searches when mousing-over the help icon.
  • Search results are grouped by the category items are found in. Clicking the item takes you to that item’s detail page; clicking the category takes you to your default view (grid or tile) of all the items in that category.
  • A “home” button added to the breadcrumb control to go back to category home page.
  • The breadcrumb control at the top has been changed to show a clickable arrow between each category and sub-category. Clicking this arrow displays a list of other locations at that level so you can go straight there without having to go “back” in the browser (much like the address bar in Windows Vista or Windows 7).
  • Every time you go to a new category, subcategory or item – the title in the browser updates appropriately (i.e. instead of “Red Stick Rebellion – Inventory Home”, it’s “Red Stick Rebellion – Databank: The Legacy Collection”, etc.).
  • Paging in either the grid or tile views is now saved in the browser history (allows you to use the “back” button in your browser). The pager controls are also now always visible but are either active or inactive depending upon what page you are on.
  • The tile view will now only display the first 150 characters of a description, if it’s longer then that it will add an ellipse ("…" ) and let you know you must view the item’s detail page to see the entire description.
  • The mousing-over a thumbnail image in the tile view does not show a larger thumbnail preview anymore (removed because of the addition of the Item Detailpage).
  • Variations are no longer displayed in the tile view; an indicator will show up noting that variations are found for an item but are only visible on the item’s detail page.
  • The grid view now displays a camera icon if any pictures are found for an item listed in the grid.
  • A variation icon has also been added to the grid view to indicate if an item has variations (which may be viewed on the item’s detail page).
  • A new “Item Detail” page has been added. As mentioned before, the search results, grid and tile views now allow you to click on an individual item and view the full-size version of the item’s picture as well as all of the information found for an item including:
  • All attributed information (figure number, wave, etc.)
  • The full description (no matter how long)
  • All the available variations, with thumbnail preview of each (if available)
As I mentioned before, there are still many things to come such as:
  • The ability to store items in "Cargo Bays"
  • The ability to track variations and your inventory of them
  • The ability to allow other members/guests to view your collection/want list
  • and more...
Also, at the April meeting - I'll do a quick run though for everyone. Thanks all of your feedback!

Boy, that didn't take long... the first set of fixes and changes have been deployed. They include:

  • Fixed the "Latest Updates" section so links for the item and category work like the "Newest Items Added" section.
  • Changed the "New and Upcoming Items" section to look and work (item and category links) like the Databank sections.
  • Changed the Scouting Reports to allow for item and category links like the Databank sections.
  • Fixed the saving of item in certain situations when saving updates in the tile view.
  • Fixed the calculation of distance of a Scouting Report locations

Again, database out of date. They had the entire TLC ROTS wave, along with the WM Exclusive AT-ST in big numbers. Also had some Dewbacks in the aisle. Jacob

I know... I know - give me a break! We've had a lot going on!

Well... if you go to the Databank homepage, you will notice a large update to the database to include much of what was missing from the last few months and even goes out to 2010 (as of now).
